Watching Whales Watching Us

Read this fantastic piece in the NYTimes Sunday Magazine, yesterday, and was so moved.

And then I was lucky enough during my afternoon commute to hear Terry Gross interviewing the writer today, on Fresh Air. Amazing and heartening. Listen in!

Thursday is National Welcome Your Sister Day*

My big sis will be arriving for a visit and I am so excited!  Knitter, gardener, cat lover, encourager and all-around super sister.  I can't wait -- and am gearing up for a weekend of laughter, sheep & wool, Scott & Zelda, and whatever other fun we can dream up. Woo hoo!

For other upcoming holidays, check out The Daily Holiday.  (Found via the lovely Elise Blaha :-)

* Okay, only in our family, but you can celebrate it too.

Dying from Laughter Here

Just discovered the blog, "Postcards from Yo Momma"  Yeah, I know, I'm always behind the curve.  Anyway, I'm laughing so hard, I'm crying.  Check it out.

Well It's About Time

The Washington Post reports today  (Pawn that Wii - It's Time for a Nice Cheap Board Game) that toymakers are seeing a resurgence of consumer interest in "toys that will be enjoyed over and over: dolls, games, arts and crafts, activity toys like yo-yo's ...".

Hope this helps the continuing movement for buying handmade, too.

(And, no, S & K, I'm not about to pawn our Wii!)

What Can I Say?

I'm such a goof.  I got through this whole post on Cool Tools before it sunk in that the book being reviewed is not about deniers ("de-nee-yay", as in French: money), or about a family by the name Denier (honey, the Deniers just moved in down the street).  It is, rather, about skeptics/scientific heretics/those who deny the c.w., about global warming.   The book isn't the reason for my post; it's just the sign that my brain has clearly preceded me to bed tonight. So, follow it I must.

Good night!  :-0
